FAQ
Will my procedure be painful?
Like most cosmetic procedures, a small amount of discomfort can be expected. Some areas (such as the lips) are more painful to treat than others. Most procedures are very quick and are tolerated without numbing agents, with facial massagers, ice, and squeezy balls on hand if needed. If required, numbing agents (topical and local) are available.
If you are sensitive to pain, be mindful that menstruation, stress, and increased caffeine intake can all raise your sensitivity. If you are planning an intensive procedure on a sensitive area like lip filler, consider limiting caffeine on the day and booking when you are not menstruating.
Is the treatment safe?
Side effects are generally rare, and most are mild and short-lived. A very small number of people — around 1 in 1,000 — may experience prolonged redness and swelling requiring two to three days of oral cortisone treatment. Side effects are usually minimal and may include bruising, swelling, itching, or redness. Cold sores may be aggravated if they typically occur in the treatment area. After treatment, if you experience any inflammatory or other reactions lasting more than one week, notify your doctor immediately so that appropriate treatment can be prescribed.
What do I need to know before getting a treatment?
Avoid vigorous physical activity and large amounts of alcohol for 24 hours before treatment, as these increase the risk of bruising and swelling. Aspirin and vitamin E should not be taken for one week prior. Most clients are able to return to work immediately after treatment. We recommend scheduling your appointment at least one to two weeks before any important event, such as a wedding, to allow any bruising or swelling to fully subside.
What is Botulinum Toxin A?
Botulinum Toxin A is a natural purified protein extracted from bacteria. It has been used for over 20 years to treat a variety of medical conditions, such as cerebral palsy, facial spasms, and excessive sweating.
How does the anti-wrinkle treatment work?
Botulinum Toxin A causes temporary relaxation in the muscle it is injected into, preventing it from contracting and leaving the skin above smooth and unwrinkled. When injected, the muscle will not function while the treatment is active — for example, you will not be able to frown if the muscle involved in frowning is treated — but this will revert to normal as the treatment wears off.
How long will my anti-wrinkle treatment take to start working?
Botulinum Toxin A starts to work on the muscles two to three days after injection and reaches its full effect within 7 to 14 days.
How long will my anti-wrinkle treatment last?
The effect of Botulinum Toxin A will typically last three to four months depending on the individual. The effect wears off gradually, so to maintain results we recommend two to three treatments per year. Repeated injections have a cumulative effect, gradually extending the duration each treatment remains effective.
Where can Botulinum Toxin A be used?
The most common treatment areas are between the brows, around the eyes, and the forehead. Botulinum Toxin A can also be used to give a brow lift, soften smokers' lines, treat nose wrinkles, and treat chin dimpling. We can also address other concerns such as excessive perspiration, jaw reshaping, and teeth grinding.
It is not suitable for wrinkles that are visible when the facial muscles are at rest (deep or etched lines) — in this case, we would recommend a comprehensive personalised consultation to discuss your options.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects and complications are usually minimal, and there have been very few reports of resistance developing. The most common side effect is minor temporary bruising at the injection site, which can be reduced by staying well hydrated and avoiding caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
Less common side effects include leakage of a small quantity of toxin into an adjacent muscle, possibly resulting in temporary drooping of the eyelids or eyebrow, slight weakness of the eye muscles, or asymmetry at the treated area. This is purely temporary and will wear off over the following weeks. Approximately 1% of people experience mild headaches in the days immediately following treatment. If you have any concerns after your treatment, please contact the clinic.
What is a dermal filler?
We use dermal fillers made from non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid — a complex chain that strongly binds to water and is naturally found in human skin. It is used to restore volume, treat facial folds, lines, wrinkles, and depressed scars, and enhance the shape of the lips.
How long will the filler last?
The duration varies from client to client and depends on the treated area. Results can last between 3 and 12 months or longer, depending on the area, product, and quantity used.
What will it look like after treatment?
For most clients, final results won't be fully visible until 4–6 weeks after treatment. This allows time for the product to integrate into the tissue and for any swelling or bruising to fully subside. If further treatment is required, it is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks.
What should I expect in the first 24–48 hours after treatment?
Immediately after treatment you may notice some puffiness or swelling, which can last up to 48 hours, particularly if the lip area has been treated. This is usually mild and only noticeable to the client or those who know them well. Swelling may be uneven in some areas, but this does not usually affect the final outcome. Bruising at the injection site is possible and typically clears completely within one week. Mineral makeup can be worn after treatment to cover any redness.
What is Sunekos®?
Sunekos® is an injectable treatment that combines hyaluronic acid with a unique blend of amino acids. It is designed to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for maintaining the skin's elasticity and firmness. It is considered a non-surgical alternative to anti-wrinkle injections and fillers, aiming to naturally repair the skin without altering its shape. Sunekos® is particularly effective for addressing ageing, dryness, sun damage, acne scarring, fine lines, and loss of skin tone.
How is Sunekos® different from Dermal Filler?
Despite containing hyaluronic acid — the main ingredient in most dermal fillers — it is entirely different from dermal filler. It is not cross-linked, so it has the consistency of water rather than a gel. It does not fill or add volume. Instead, Sunekos® corrects and protects the dermis from signs of ageing by stimulating fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin, regenerating the skin from within.
Skin ageing is complex and results from an intrinsic decline in cellular function (due to age and genetics) coupled with exposure to various external factors. Both types of ageing modify the structure of the extracellular matrix by acting on the quality and composition of its proteins: collagen, elastin, and hydration. As we age, we produce less of these essential proteins, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, dehydration, textural changes, and loss of elasticity.
What areas can be treated?
Sunekos® can be used on various parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, knees, and inner thighs.
How long will the treatment take?
Treatment time depends on the area being treated. Your practitioner will provide an approximate time at the consultation stage.
Will it hurt?
Sunekos® consists of a series of small injections that are relatively painless. Topical anaesthetic can be applied prior to treatment if required.
When can I resume normal activities?
The treatment usually lasts 15 to 20 minutes, and you can resume normal activities immediately afterwards. Some lumps or bumps may be noticeable for up to five hours.
How many treatments do I need?
A series of three treatments, 14 days apart, is recommended for optimal results. Changes will be visible after the first session.
Is Sunekos® safe?
Sunekos® has a favourable safety profile. It is made from hyaluronic acid and amino acids — substances already present in the human body — which are naturally reabsorbed over time.
When will I see results?
Results can begin to appear as early as 7 to 10 days after treatment, continuing to improve over time and becoming more noticeable around four to six weeks.
What is Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening?
Plasma fibroblast treatment is a non-surgical procedure aimed at tightening and rejuvenating the skin. It uses the ACCOR® Cosmetic Corrector, which emits a controlled arc of plasma energy to target specific areas of skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin fibres. The plasma energy heats the skin's surface, causing it to contract and tighten while promoting cellular regeneration.
What areas can be treated?
Common treatment areas include the upper eyelids and under-eyes, full face, nasolabial folds, jawline, forehead, and benign skin lesions. The treatment is highly effective at reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, and scars. This minimally invasive procedure requires minimal downtime and produces natural-looking results that continue to improve as collagen rebuilds over time.
What should I expect immediately after treatment?
The procedure creates tiny dots on the treated area which may last up to a week. Immediately after treatment, redness, swelling, and a warm sensation are common and typically subside within a few hours to a few days. Most clients look puffy immediately afterwards, particularly if the lip or eye area has been treated.
After a few days, crusting and scabbing of the tiny dots will occur — this is a natural part of the healing process. It is important not to pick at or scratch the scabs to avoid scarring. As the skin heals, it may undergo a peeling process similar to sunburn, which should subside within one to two weeks.
When will I see results?
Some clients notice an immediate improvement in skin tightness and firmness, though full results typically develop gradually over several weeks as collagen production increases. Improvements in texture and tone may continue for several months following the procedure, with wrinkles and fine lines becoming progressively less noticeable.
Individual results may vary, and multiple sessions may be required to achieve the desired outcome. Keeping the area clean and protected from sun exposure is essential for optimal results and minimising the risk of complications.
What is Microneedling?
Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling uses a handheld device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin's surface. These stimulate the body's natural healing response, triggering production of collagen and elastin — essential proteins for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. The micro-punctures also enhance absorption of topical skincare products, maximising their effectiveness.
Microneedling can address a range of skin concerns including acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and uneven texture. The depth of treatment is tailored to individual needs. The procedure is minimally invasive, with mild redness and swelling typically subsiding within a few days.
